About Lamplit

A reading diary for Christian books, made by a reader.

Who's behind it

Hello, I'm Ryan (@ryanreads). I live in Nottinghamshire and I built Lamplit myself. It's an independent project: it isn't run by a publisher, a bookshop or a company, and nobody is paying for it to say anything.

Why it exists

I love how Letterboxd and Goodreads let you keep track of what you've read and see what other people thought. But there wasn't a place made for the books that shape our faith: where you can note the verse a book brought to mind, find books on the passage you're reading, and read a book together with your home group or church.

So I made one.

Who it's for

Christians of every tradition, and anyone curious about the Christian faith. Lamplit doesn't take a side between churches or denominations. Reviews are each reader's own view, and readers are asked to disagree kindly.

Free, with no adverts

Lamplit is free to use. There are no adverts, and it doesn't earn anything from the links to bookshops on book pages. Your information is never sold. You can download everything you've added, or delete your account, at any time from Settings. The privacy page explains exactly what's kept and why.

Where the books come from

Book details and covers come from Open Library, a free library catalogue. Sometimes their details are wrong. If you spot a mistake, use Suggest a correction on the book's page. If a book is missing, you can ask for it to be added.

Get in touch

Ideas, problems or just hello: email hello@lamplit.org. If something on the site isn't right, the Report link on any review, comment or list comes straight to me.
